The benefits of CBD are becoming more and more popular these days contributing to its sales. Currently, CBD products are available in different forms such as oil, creams, pills, edibles, topical balms, etc. One of the main factors that affect the quality of your CBD products is the way the oil is extracted from the hemp plants.

Note that low-quality CBD oils extraction methods can result in side effects and hence, it is significant to inquire about the extraction methods to your product manufacturer before you purchase it. In short, knowing the extraction method is useful to ensure that you get what you paid for. Some of the common extraction methods used to source CBD oils from hemp plants are listed below.

CBD Oil Extraction Methods

The most common methods of extracting CBD oils from hemp plants include solvent, olive oil, and CO2 processes. Note that the end result, effects, health impacts, and environmental impact of each process tend to vary.

Solvent extraction

This is one of the easiest, least expensive, and fastest CBD oil extraction process. Here, the ingredients such as alcohol ethanol, propane, butane, and isopropyl are used to extract oil from the cannabinoids through the evaporation process. However, the process is highly dangerous because of the use of inflammable products. Plus, the method sometimes fails to eliminate the solvent residue during the evaporation process and this can make the oil toxic.

Olive oil extraction

This is one of the oldest, simplest, cheap, and easiest methods of extracting CBD oils. Most committed CBD users often attest to this method as the best. The process involves heating the plant materials along with olive oil. In this method, the end products will not be as concentrated as other options because of the presence of olive oil. Hence, users will have to take dosages accordingly. The downside, in this case, is that you will have to store the product in a cool and dark area because of its perishable nature and this will not be always practical.

CO2 extraction

This is the advanced form of extracting CBD oil from hemp plants. However, this is one of the most complex and expensive methods as well. The main reason that reputed CBD companies rely on this method is its ability to produce pure, safe, and chlorophyll-free oil. Plus, it tends to remove minimal to no beneficial components of the plant when compared to other methods. Similarly, the end products tend to boast least to no contaminants, unlike the products sourced through other methods.
