The most used component of the cannabis plant is cannabidiol (CBD) as it has many medical benefits. Unlike the other major component in cannabis tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol doesn’t create any euphoric effects. A lot of research is going on exploring the medical applications of CBD. According to different components present in CBD extract, it can be classified into three. The classification of CBD extracts includes broad-spectrum CBD, CBD isolate, and full-spectrum CBD.

Full Spectrum CBD

Full-spectrum CBD consists of many naturally occurring extracts of the cannabis sativa plant. Full-spectrum CBD consists of less than 0.3% THC whereas broad-spectrum CBD has a negligible amount of THC. This amount of THC present in full-spectrum CBD is not sufficient for producing the euphoria normally people feel after using cannabis. Terpene is the compound present in the cannabis sativa plant which induces the smell. This compound is also found in full-spectrum CBD. Some researches show terpenes can improve the effectiveness of cannabidiol.

Full-spectrum CBD can help with reducing inflammation, relieving pain, anxiety control, seizure control, etc. It also has antioxidant properties and anti-microbial properties. If taken in a high dosage, there are chances of getting euphoric, so only take dosages prescribed by a medical practitioner.

Broad Spectrum CBD

Broad-spectrum CBD can be considered almost free from THC. There are other components of cannabis included in this, but none of them can produce the euphoria effect. Terpenes, cannabichromene, and cannabinol (CBN) may be present in broad-spectrum CBD. There may be traces of THC, but it is negligible as it does no effects.

CBD Isolate

CBD isolate can be found in solid or powder form and cannabidiol is induced in it. This is free from THC and hence can be used by those who are not willing to ingest THC. Different methods are used to extract all other compounds from the cannabis plant except CBD. Crystal form CBD is left behind after this process, which is then ground for easy consumption.

Studies are done on the effect of CBD isolate and found that it may be effective against pain and inflammation. Also, the side effects associated with CBD isolates are very less. But always consult with a doctor if you are taking other medicines. Full-spectrum CBD is found to be more effective than CBD isolate. The main advantage of using CBD isolate against full-spectrum CBD is that there will be no amount of THC present in the consumer’s blood.
